use in automotive R134a systems. The PAGs (polyalkylene glycols)
are available in ISO viscosities 46, 100 and 150. The POE (polyol ester)

| Polyalkylene glycols (PAGs) offer good performance with R134a, with excellent refrigerant miscibility
and lubricity. Although hygroscopic, PAGs are entirely stable in the presence of ingressed water, and
are recommended by vehicle manufactures. Polyol Ester (POE) oils offer excellent miscibility and
lubricity with HFCs (incl. R134a) over a wide range of temperatures and are an ideal choice for
retrofitting because of their miscibility with mineral oil. Care is required with POE because moisture
ingress can cause undesirable acidic reactions. |
